I render short-form product clips every single day, and for the last few months almost all of them have come out of Seedance. That is not a verdict — it is a workflow decision I made for one specific reason, and if your job is different, Kling is very probably the better tool. Most comparisons of these two never say what the job is, which is why they are useless.

So here is the honest split. Where Seedance is genuinely better, where Kling is genuinely better, what each costs once you count the clips you throw away, and the two-line rule I use to pick without thinking about it.

What neither of them does well

Start here, because it saves money. Neither model reliably holds a specific product's details across a cut. If you need the same jacket, with the same buttons and the same stitching, in shot one and shot four, you are going to be fighting both of them — I wrote up what actually works in consistent AI video characters, and the honest answer is reference images and short clips, not a better model.

Neither handles legible text on screen. Burn your captions in afterwards. And both will quietly ignore a negative instruction — "no text", "no logo" — often enough that you should not rely on it. Where Seedance wins

Cost per usable clip, and it is not close for my use case. Seedance 2.0 Mini at 720p and 9:16 is cheap enough that I can render, look, reject, and render again without doing arithmetic. When you publish daily, the model you can afford to be wrong with beats the model that is better per attempt.

It is also strong at commercial and product motion — a garment moving, fabric behaving like fabric, a clean vertical framing that does not need reframing afterwards. That is precisely the ad job, and it is why it ended up as my default. More detail in the Seedance review and Seedance pricing.

Where Kling wins

Cinematic motion and camera work. Kling 3.0 handles a moving camera through a scene better, holds a longer coherent shot, and produces the kind of footage you would actually cut into a trailer. If the clip has to look like it came off a camera rather than out of a model, Kling is the one.

Its image-to-video path is also stronger, which matters more than it sounds: starting from a still you control removes most of the randomness in the first frame, and that is the frame that decides whether the whole clip is usable. The catch is motion timing. Kling compresses time — ask for a three-second action and you often get it performed faster than real life, which reads as slightly wrong until you shorten the action rather than the clip.

How many clips do you need this month, and does any single one of them have to be excellent?

Lots of clips, none of them precious — Seedance. That is social, ads, testing hooks, anything where the win comes from volume and iteration. A handful of clips where one bad one ruins the piece — Kling. That is a trailer, a brand film, a hero shot on a landing page. I run both for exactly this reason: the daily grind is Seedance, and when something has to actually look expensive, it is Kling.

Picking between these two is the narrow version of a wider question, and the wider one usually has a cheaper answer.
